1. Buy the right guitar

When you buy a guitar, make sure you buy one that you find comfortable and you find it beautiful. Also try to find a guitar stand so that you can keep your guitar at a place where you can see it very often.

This seems like a very small step but it works wonders. Keeping it within your sight will make you want to hold it and hence you will practice more.

2. Learn to tune your Guitar :

Tuning a guitar involves adjusting all the 6 strings on the instrument. Standard guitar tuning, starting from the thickest, lowest-pitched string (the 6th string) at the top of neck is: E – A – D – G – B – E.
You will have to download a Guitar tuner app which you will get very easily on PlayStore and Apple App Store as well.

3. Learn how to read guitar Tabs:

Once you understand how to tune  your guitar, it won't be very difficult to understand how to read Guitar Tabs. You will notice that your guitar has divisions on its neck. These are called Frets.
Guitar Tabs simply tell you which fret to play on which string.

Guitar Tabs are an easier type of written music notation for guitar. Tabs are everywhere, they are more popular than standard music notation for guitarists. 


4. Learn the basic chords properly. 

These are the following Basic Guitar Open Chords :

- E minor
- G major
- C major
- D major

With only these 4 chords you will be able to play some simple Guitar Songs Teach yourself those chords and practice them diligently to perfect them.


5. Learn a few strumming patterns. 

This is where the right hand comes into the picture.
So focus on Up strokes and Down Strokes which creates a sense of rhythm.
Start by learning common rhythm patterns.
